Nature of Your Prospect

Sell the market what they want. Not what you want to sell. (If you want to make a living, that is.)
The prospect, their needs and wants comes first. It’s that simple.
It doesn’t take genius. It’s just the simple matter of listening and observing. And maybe a little intuition helps, too. [ COULD GO WITH NATURE OF PROSPECT ]
You will tie the two together in the next two sections.

who are you selling to and what do they want?
This is the primary desire.
Don’t feed the fish what you’re hungry for. Feed them what they’re hungry for.
What is the transformation they are hoping for?
Just give the people what they want. Being in a frat is only as appealing and chicks and friends.
The prospect has basic emotional needs your product will solve—regardless of what it is.
It is through emotion that you will reach the core essence of your prospect’s motivation. It is from this essence that you will get all the clues you need to uncover the way to that prospect’s heart and soul and eventually to his or her pocketbook.
- Remember the power savers (what is the point of this… the incentives. they don’t want to save power because it’s the right thing to do. or to save money. to not pollute the world. they did it because… )
- Appeal to their true interests… not what they say
- The key is to gather as much information about them as possible and then try to, you know, be the ideal lover. Study them. Listen. Pay Attention. This is why you get to know them and their hobbies. To gain a sense of their emotional needs. Me and the food and the security and routine and safety. This is why I get into all these brands that are durable. Safety. Security.
Do not try to communicate to this person. Become this person.

ASK customers what is important to them about your product. Test different emotional appeals and see which on works.
incentives:
- figure out what people really care about—not what they say they do
- incentivize on what is valuable to them and cheap to you
- pay attention to how people respond; keep experimenting
- switch from adversarial to cooperative incentives (whatever that means)
- never ever think people will do something because it’s the “right” thing to do people will ALWAYS game the system; applaud their creativity
